Taught by Kevin Bussey, D.Min.

When someone hands you a verse on a graphic, in a sermon, or in an argument, you should be able to ask “Says who?” and then have a method for finding out.

Why this course

Most high schoolers open the Bible and still wonder what a passage actually means. Some wait for someone else to explain it. Others pull out one verse and hope it fits. Says Who? shows a third way. You learn how to discover what a passage really means, make sense of difficult verses, spot the common mistakes, and connect what you find to everyday life.

What you'll gain
  • The confidence to open any passage and know what to look for
  • A clear way to use context instead of pulling verses out of place
  • Tools to work through confusing or hard passages without giving up
  • A method you can keep using long after the course ends
The method

Every lesson follows the same five part path, so students always know where they are.

The Question

How do I know what the Bible actually means?

Relate

Start with what you already think and why.

Investigate

Notice the kind of writing.

Translate

Kevin Bussey, D.Min, is a professor, pastor, author, and evangelism practitioner with decades of experience helping people understand and share the Christian faith. He serves as a professor at Highlands College, America's Ministry Leadership University, in Birmingham, Alabama, where he equips the next generation of ministry leaders.

He is the author of Reluctant Evangelism: Sharing Your Faith Without the Pressure, a practical approach to evangelism for Christians who want to share their faith but often feel uncomfortable, unprepared, or pressured by traditional methods. Drawing from decades of ministry and personal experience, he emphasizes permission-based conversations, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and meeting people where they are, without scripts, pressure, or quotas.

His ministry experience includes serving as a senior pastor, church planter, evangelism pastor, student pastor, and missionary. He develops curriculum and training resources designed to equip believers to engage thoughtfully and confidently with people who have questions about Christianity.

At the heart of his teaching is a simple conviction: understanding Scripture and sharing it should not feel like pressure. When believers learn to read the Bible carefully for themselves, everyday conversations become opportunities for honest, confident faith.
